I rev’ed up IE and hit up Mozilla.org to download Firefox as soon as I was done rebooting 30 times in a row to finish Windows Updates. Instead of downloading the release version of Firefox 1.0.7, I was enticed by the link to the Beta 2 version of 1.5…

I’ve verified that all of the hype about extensions not working was indeed hype… This is just the kind of thing we all expect in the computer industry whenever something changes and doesn’t maintain backwards compatibility. In fact, all the extension authors I use have already updated their plugins to support 1.5, even though it’s still only in beta.

So far, not a whole lot different. I did notice that they seem to have increased the delay before you can install an “Unsigned” plugin… Now the OK button that I already despised not lighting up takes even longer to light up.

For the love of god… I guess we’ve started trying to cater to the lowest common moron so we can boost our market share, right?

I really don’t see why they jumped to 1.5… I’m not seeing all the new features that were supposed to make it a milestone build. Who knows, maybe I just haven’t found them yet…

So as I read the list, I had to think “Do I really meet these?”, so here goes my response:

1. I have never gotten a boner! Flushed and warm and fuzzy all over is a different story… (That’s 1)
2. OK, whoever started that rumor is a liar! My little buddy never once joined me in the shower! He always waits happily on my bed, looking anxiously at the door to the bathroom… (That’s 2)
3. Uhh, you mean that’s not “normal”? Do they have a medication to help with that? (That’s 3)
4. Only losers compile their own… RPM > j00!
5. Gentoo shmentoo. Fedora 0wnz j00 with its RPM goodness!
6. Hey now… Web 2.0 is the future! If I’m going to get in on the Dot Com Boom 2.0, I’ve gotta keep up-to-date, don’t I? (That’s 4)
7. Uhh… Nerds wear pants? I thought they all lounged around in their parents’ basements in their underwear…
8. I don’t have a smartphone, but does a PDA count? (That’s 5)
9. Next to? I dumped the printer to free up an outlet! (That’s 6.5 for going over the top)
10. Now this one I dispute… Only ditsy blondes do that crap!
11. I can’t argue with you there… boy oh boy… (That’s 7.5)

So does it count if you get 7.5 out of 11? Does that just make me a lesser-nerd? Dear god, say it doesn’t mean I’m “normal”! I really don’t think I could handle that! 

Quite often, I’ll update my Blogroll and Links. Usually, due to the massive length of this list, I’ll just import the OPML file from my news reader into WordPress and make everybody all warm and fuzzy and happy and what-not.

Now, on my main blog, I’ll just log into MySQL and truncate the links table… But I just ran into this exact problem over here on WordPress.com, and there’s nothing I can do about it!

You’ve got a ‘Toggle Checkboxes’ button, and you’ve got a ‘Toggle Visibility’ button… Where’s the ‘Delete All’ button? You expect me to go through 100+ links and click ‘Delete’ –> ‘OK’, ‘Delete’ –> ‘OK’, ‘Delete’ –> ‘O-Oh, you get the point?

So what about it guys? Not a hard request, is it? I’d write a plugin to do it (if I weren’t so lazy), but that still wouldn’t help me settle in over here… 

A lot of the stuff in my blogroll is geeky, but some of these guys are absolutely hilarious… Check ‘em out!
